TBI Weekly: Looking ahead to MIPTV
This week has been packed with news about new hires, departures, SVOD take-ups and business launches, but all the while everyone’s got their eye on the upcoming MIPTV, that kicks off this weekend.
The deals have already started rolling as we pack our bags to head to a, hopefully, sunny Cannes.
Ahead of the market, Endeavour Content announced that the anticipated thriller Killing Eve has sold across markets including key European markets such as Scandinavia, Portugal and CEE via HBO Europe, as well as Israel and New Zealand.
The move has been quickly followed by BBC America picking up the Phoebe Waller-Bridge penned title for season two.
Fox also greenlit a second season for espionage thriller Deep State, after the Endor Productions title received a raft of international sales for its first season.
Ahead of its official launch at the market, DRG secured its first major deal for Dead Lucky, with AMC’s Sundance Now. Meanwhile, UKTV acquired three Sony Pictures Television shows for its crime drama channel Alibi.
The deals announcements have also been accompanied by a raft of hires and departures, as Dori Media gained a new VP of sales to oversee its business in Europe from Madrid, STV gained its first head of factual development and we heard of the upcoming shock departure of FremantleMedia International’s global content chief Katrina Neylon.
You can find a taster of what’s to come below as we head to the Croisette. See you there soon!
