StudioCanal appoints ‘transition’ team at ‘It’s A Sin’ prodco Red, following CEO exit

It’s A Sin

StudioCanal is appointing a transitional team to manage its UK-based It’s a Sin prodco Red Production Company, following the departure of CEO Sarah Doole.

The team will be supported by Françoise Guyonnet, StudioCanal’s executive managing director for TV series and Alex Hamilton, the UK CEO.

Doole, whose exit was announced last week, is now focused on growing and developing Sow the Seed, an incubator she set up in 2020 designed to propagate new voices in factual.

The former Fremantle head of global drama replaced Nicola Shindler as CEO of Red in 2020, after the prodco’s founder moved to start up ITV Studios-backed Quay Street.

Doole spent 18 months at Stay Close producer Red, which she joined after seven years at Fremantle where her credits included the Deutschland trilogy, The Young Pope, My Brilliant Friend, Beecham House, Picnic At Hanging Rock and The Salisbury Poisonings.

StudioCanal CEO Anna Marsh commented: “I would like to thanks Sarah Doole for the work accomplished at Red Production Company. I wish her all the best for her next endeavours.”

Manchester-based Red is behind UK dramas such as Ridley RoadQueer As FolkHappy Valley and Last Tango In Halifax. Recent projects include No Return for ITV, Stay Close for Netflix and the upcoming Anansi Boys for Amazon Prime.
