In-demand: Argentina (November 7-13, 2018)

Stranger Things was highly demanded in Argentina this past week, despite the fact that the title has not released new episodes since 2017.

The supernatural thriller beat more recently released titles such as Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, The Haunting of Hill House and House of Cards to the top spot in Parrot Analytics digital originals demand list, which measures demand via ‘expressions’ such as file-sharing or social media posts for programming that first appeared on digital platforms.

Stranger Things also appeared in Argentina’s overall demand list, which measures both digital originals and programming that did not first appear on digital platforms, in seventh place and beat Outlander and La Voz Argentina (The Voice Argentina).

The renewed interest may be down to popular cast members such as Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) and Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler) noting this week that filming for season three is coming to an end. The next instalment of the title is due to launch in summer 2019.

Argentina’s digital originals list for the period saw season returners receive high demand generally. House of Cards is the fourth most-demanded title for the week after launching its sixth season earlier this month and Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle is the ninth most-demanded after launching a third season in October.

Other highly demanded titles on the list include Marvel’s Daredevil, The Handmaid’s Tale and La Casa De Papel (Money Heist).

The nation’s overall demand list shows overwhelming demand for The Walking Dead, which drew over 6.7m demand expressions within the time period.

The title received double the amount of demand expressions when compared to the second title on the list The Simpsons, which gathered near 3.4m demand expressions, and almost three times the amount of demand expressions than Stranger Things, which gathered near 2.4m.

Riverdale, American Horror Story, Vikings and Grey’s Anatomy were also ranked highly on Argentina’s overall list.
