BritBox adds ‘Brexitcast’ for North American audiences

Brexitcast

BBC Studios and ITV-backed streamer BritBox has added a new BBC One show about the UK’s imminent exit from the European Union to its North American slate.

Brexitcast, which will be available exclusively on BritBox, was inspired by the eponymous BBC podcast and features insights into the complicated world of Brexit from Westminster and Brussels. It is the first BBC podcast to be commissioned as a television programme.

The show is fronted by BBC political editor Laura Kuessenberg, Europe editor Katya Adler, Europe correspondent Adam Fleming and political correspondent Chris Mason, who also anchor the Brexitcast podcast.

The show debuts on BritBox on September 19 and will be available in the US and Canada, where the service costs $6.99 per month.

ITV and the BBC are also preparing to launch a UK-focused BritBox service, which will offer shows such as BBC comedy Gavin & Stacey and ITV drama Broadchurch. That service, in which the BBC only holds a 10% stake, will be offered for a monthly subscription of £5.99 ($7.50), and will include a small number of originals.
