Armoza’s Singerella scores UK option
Armoza Formats’ singing show Singerella has been optioned in the UK.
Argonon-owned Chase The Case producer Bandicoot TV has picked up local rights to the prime-time fact ent format, which was launched at last month’s MIPCOM market.
In each hour-long episode, friends and family nominate a woman with unfulfilled musical dreams to get her moment in the spotlight with a big-name artist.
However, she has just three days to prepare for the performance, meeting with voice coaches, performance directors and stylists along the way.
Singerella – which was selected as a TBI Hot Pick last month – is the latest singing format out of Armoza Formats, which launched The Four in 2017. Picked up by US broadcaster Fox, the show was recently optioned out of India by Banijay Asia.
Derek McLean, MD of Bandicoot TV, said: “Singerella was a stand-out winner for us at this MIP market. It’s a clever combination of Saturday night entertainment TV values, but with some great factual storytelling and some classic wish fulfilment.
“Bandicoot can’t wait to bring this to the UK, as a very clever new take on a familiar world.”
Armoza Formats CEO Avi Armoza added: “By offering real people the chance to fulfil their dreams, this format truly allows for life-changing moments with which viewers everywhere will connect.”
