Sony poaches exec for Oz sales
Greg Sneddon is replacing Mark Young as Sony Pictures Television’s senior VP, distribution in Australia and New Zealand.
This comes after SPT moved Young across to become senior VP, distribution for UK, Africa and Ireland to replace Kyle Munnich, who joined Sky Vision’s drama team.
Sneddon comes to Sony from Australian distributor Roadshow Entertainment, where he was executive director, distribution and strategy, a role that saw him run the company’s TV and digital sales businesses.
He has also held roles at BBC Worldwide and MGM, the latter where he oversaw the Hollywood studio’s interests in joint venture business and Japanese free TV sales.
Based in Sydney, Sneddon will oversee Australasian distribution of shows such as The Blacklist, Outlander and new AMC comedy-drama Better Call Saul (pictured).
He will report to SPT’s executive VP, distribution, Asia Pacific Angel Orengo, who said: “Greg is an industry veteran with a deep understanding of these markets, sound client relationships, and an impressive sales track record.
He also pointed to Sneddon’s work in digital distribution is exploding in Australia as new local services such as Presto and Stan go head-to-head with the incoming Netflix.
Roadshow, which is part of the Village Roadshow company, this week concluded a major rights deal with Fairfax Media and Nine Entertainment’s SVOD venture, Stan.
