Amazon Prime Video orders Dutch version of ‘Killer Camp’ reality format

Killer Camp

Amazon’s Prime Video in the Netherlands has ordered a local adaptation of Tuesday’s Child Television’s horror whodunit reality format Killer Camp.

Produced by Mediawan’s SkyHigh TV and expected to debut later this year, the 6 x 40-minute Dutch version will see 11 well-known influencers from the Netherlands check in to the 1980s American-style ‘Camp Pleasant’.

But one of them is hatching a murderous plan, forcing them all to fight for their lives in a strategic game of cat and mouse while competing to expose the “killer” among them for a share of the €20,000 cash prize.

By day, the campers will navigate a host of hilarious challenges while the “killer” attempts to sabotage their efforts, implicating other players in the process. Once darkness descends, one unlucky camper will be picked off and “murdered” every night in the most gruesome and elaborately retro-themed ways possible, losing their claim to the cash prize.

Filmed on location at Het Blauwe Meer (The Blue Lake) in the Netherlands, Prime Video’s Killer Camp will be staffed by club counsellor, comedian and actor Ruud Smulders. Marius van Duijn is on board as creative director, while the Dutch remake will be executive produced by Martine Tromp for SkyHigh TV.

The format, which is distributed by Keshet International, along with finished tape, was originally produced by Tuesday’s Child Television for both ITV2 in the UK and The CW in the United States. Both were executive produced by Karen Smith, Steph Harris and Ben Wilson.

Keren Shahar, Keshet International’s COO and president of distribution, said: “This format is a really exciting take on reality TV that keeps younger audiences engaged and entertained right through to the end of the series, and we are confident that SkyHigh TV will do a brilliant job of reinterpreting this format for Dutch audiences.”
