TCM UK acquires western drama Hell on Wheels

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) has acquired western drama Hell on Wheels in the UK after striking a deal with Endemol Worldwide Distribution. This marks one of the most high profile acquisitions for the pay broadcaster.

TCM has picked up the series ahead of its debut on US cable network AMC later this month.

Hell on Wheels is produced by Entertainment One in association with Endemol USA and Nomadic Pictures and is the story of post-Civil War America. Endemol Worldwide Distribution holds the European distribution rights to the series, while Entertainment One is distributing in other international territories.

The series will air on TCM UK in 2012.

Jemma Yates, director, general entertainment, UK and Eire, Turner Broadcasting said: “We are thrilled that Hell on Wheels will have its first UK debut on TCM in a deal which marks our continued investment in high quality content for the channel.”

It has already been picked up by a raft of broadcasters including AB Droits (France), Antenna 3 (Spain), TV Norge (Norway), CNBC-e (Turkey) and Sundance Channel in Portugal, Spain and CEE.
