LA Screenings 2013: Twentieth Century Fox Television

With a raft of formats, remakes and reboots peppering the fall schedules of the broadcast networks, it should really be no surprise Fox has gone back to its channel-defining action thriller series 24 (even though the new run will be just 12 hours) with 24: Live Another Day (pictured).

Twentieth Century Fox Television will be shopping the new shorter-run limited series at its screenings, along with five other network dramas, five network comedies and a new Fox adult animation series.

This represents the largest studio slate this year, which Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution’s president of international television Marion Edwards claims gives it a big advantage.

“We have great shows that are so different from each other it is impossible to pick which will be most successful. I have some that I think will do very well, but even after all the years I have been doing this I can still be surprised.”

Among the new product is another limited series for the Fox network, a Fox- and K/O Paper Products-coproduced reworking of Irving Washington’s classic novel Sleepy Hollow. Edwards describes it as “a fantastic retelling of a classic tale blended with modern day real life”.

She adds that the wide ranging programming slate will suit buyers, many of whom are looking for a la carte acquisitions, rather than output deals. “I don’t think our clients like it when we are too predictable,” she says.
