Top European broadcasters back digital pitching comp

A host of Europe’s top broadcasters are backing a new pitching competition for digital entrepreneurs being organised by the ventures arm of Germany’s ProSiebenSat.1.

The SevenVentures Pitch Day has France’s TF1, Turkey’s Dogan TV, Poland’s TVN and the Modern Times Group on board and the broadcasters will back the the start-up prize, with direct investment and media space.

Seven Ventures said its backing alone is worth over €7 million (US$9.2 million) to the pitch winners.

The competition is open to founders and consumer start-ups intending to enter or grow in the European market with their business idea or product.

The Pitch Day will be held on November 13, 2014 in London at the NOAH investor and internet conference in London. Seven applicants will be chosen to pitch at the event, which will be streamed live, allowing the public to vote on the ideas presented.

“The objective is to facilitate entry into the European market starting with Germany for innovative entrepreneurs from around the world who can benefit from the strong marketing reach of the association of TV companies,” SevenVentures said.
