Asian Academy Creative Awards fete ‘Delhi Crime’, ‘World’s Got Talent’

Delhi Crime

Richie Mehta’s Netflix series Delhi Crime picked up four gongs at the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAAs) in Singapore.

The annual awards show, which held ceremonies on 5 and 6 December, saw the seven-part drama – which dramatises India’s notorious 2012 gang-rape case – win Best Drama Series, Best Original Programme by a Streamer/OTT, Best Direction and Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Mehta detailed his process in bringing the true events to life for Netflix in a column for TBI earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Hunan TV’s World’s Got Talent picked up Best Non-Scripted Entertainment; CJ ENM’s 300: War Of United Voices won Best Music or Dance Programme; and CNN’s Destination Tohoku won Best Lifestyle Programme.

Elsewhere, CJ ENM and Studio Dragon picked up Best Adaptation of an Existing Format for Designated Survivor: 60 Days – its localisation of the Entertainment One thriller for Netflix.

Catch up on AAAs president Michael McKay’s emerging trends out of APAC.
