Netflix dives into Spanish-language comedy

Scripted-logo-460_2Netflix2Netflix has ordered a new Spanish-language comedy from Mexican filmmaker Manolo Caro.

Described as a dark half-hour comedy, the as-yet untitled show will follow an outwardly perfect family running a flower business and hiding various affairs and secrets.

Netflix will put the show out across its international footprint, with filming getting underway in Mexico next year.

“I really wanted to work with Netflix which comes along with great responsibility as it represents international exposure for the entire team,” Caro said. I am happy to take on this challenge as I will have the opportunity to enjoy the unconditional support and creative freedom needed to tell this great story.”

“Manolo is the only filmmaker in Mexico to have been a part of the top ten highest grossing movies over the last three consecutive years,” added Erik Barmack, Netflix vice president of international originals.

“The success of Club de Cuervos in Mexico and in other countries reaffirms our bet on Mexican talent and productions like the upcoming Ingobernable, and this new project.”

The series will run to 13x30mins, with Noc Noc Cinema on production duty.
