Joy for Content as UK sales boss arrives

Content Television has hired a former Entertainment One executive as director of UK and SVOD sales.

Stephen JoyStephen Joy (pictured), who was previously director of TV and digital for Koch Media UK, takes on the new post at Content Media Corp’s television unit tasked with selling the firm’s portfolio titles to broadcasters, SVOD platforms and home entertainment labels.

Based in London, he will also manage relationships with “selected key SVOD platforms” on a global basis, as well as its transactional VOD / download-to-own operations. He will report to Content TV’s executive VP, sales and distribution, Jonathan Ford.

At Koch, Joy was responsible for all new media accounts and TV sales of feature films and documentaries. Before that, he spent ten years at eOne, managing electronic sell-through and TVOD rights for The Twilight Saga, Peppa Pig and The Walking Dead.

“As the flow of programming coming into the group continues to grow, it is essential that we maximise opportunities for this content in key markets such as the UK and significant growth areas including the SVOD sector,” said Ford.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Stephen to the team. He brings a wealth of experience in distributing to these markets and platforms and, through the creation of this new role, will be able to offer an invaluable dedicated service to our roster of clients.”

Content is currently shopping dramas such as BBC One’s critically-acclaimed Line of Duty.
