Sky D, MTG buy PlayStation drama
Sky Deutschland and the Modern Times Group have both acquired Powers, the comic book drama adaptation that is being made for Sony’s PlayStation Network.
The series will go out on the German pay TV platform and on Viaplay, MTG’s online streaming service, after both bought the show from Sony Pictures Television, which sells it internationally.
It is the latest deal for Powers, after Orange in France bought it for its OCS pay TV service.
The ten-episode one-hour drama is set in a violent world in which a detective investigates god-like superheroes.
Crime and superhero writer Charlie Huston penned the pilot, which SPT is producing.
The original comic book series was written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by Michael Avon Oeming who are also working on the series, which is PSN’s first original drama.
