Sony’s Pop picks up Funnymals

Sony’s recently-acquired UK digital channel Pop TV and the African feed of Comedy Central has acquired light entertainment clip show Funnymals.

The show, which carves clips from German pubcaster ARD’s wildlife archive and adds comedy voiceovers, is produced by Matthieu Porte’s UK-based Can’t Stop Media and German prodco Riverside Entertainment.

It originally went out on TMC in France, VTM in Belgium and Sky in Italy.

Can’t Stop handles international sales and struck the UK and African deals. In the UK, Pop TV will strip the series in a 7pm slot. Comedy Central will run it in sub-Saharan Africa in its weekend primetime schedule.
