BBC Two, America on alert for Intruders
The UK’s BBC Two and US cable channel BBC America are coproducing an 8x45mins mystery thriller drama starring Life on Mars actor John Simm.
Intruders counts the two channels, plus LA-based BBC Worldwide Productions, as coproducers, with BBC Worldwide distributing internationally.
The series will follow a secret society that chases immortality by seeking refuge within other peoples’ bodies, and is set in “in the moody American Pacific northwest”. Simm plays a troubled LA cop whose quiet life is shattered when his wife goes missing.
It comes from X Files alumni Glen Morgan, who is writer and executive producer, and is based on Michael Marshall Smith’s novel The Intruders. Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner from BBC Worldwide Productions executive produce, alongside Morgan, Rosie Lam and the BBC’s head of programme acquisition, Sue Deeks
“Drama on BBC Two continues to be a stand-out success and we have plenty more to look forward to this year, from the return of hit series Peaky Blinders and The Fall, to this striking new thriller,” said BBC Two controller Kim Shillinglaw.
BBC Two and BBC America are also hooking up on Vikings-themed drama The Last Kingdom, which NBCUniversal-owned Carnival Films is also producing.
Intruders will launch on BBC Two this autumn.
