More deals for Keshet’s Boom! Format
Keshet International has shopped its new gameshow format Boom! to TV2 in Hungary and VTM in Belgium.
The Israeli distributor launched the format this week at MIPTV and has been drip-feeding through announcements of international deals as the market progressed.
It has struck deals with US broadcast network Fox, Spain’s Atresmedia and France’s TF1.
The latest deals will see Flemish-language channel VTM’s parent company Medialaan make the Belgian version of the show, which is expected to air this year.
TV2 will also show Boom! this year and will likely produce the Hungarian version in-house. The Hungarian broadcaster is also about to air the second season of another Keshet format, Master Class.
“We are pleased to have once again picked up the most talked-about format of the market from Keshet International. With the success of Master Class and Rising Star now in pre-production, Boom! will be the third Keshet format that TV2 will adapt and we are very happy to bring this innovative project to audiences in Hungary,” said György Bence, programme and news director, TV2.
The format comes from Keshet, Ido Rozenblum and July August Productions. It launched last week in Israel on Keshet and achieved a 41.2% share.
The show has teams of four attempting to defuse fake bombs by correctly answering trivia questions. Nominated players cut through wires, which represent multiple choice answers against the clock.
If the player answers correctly the prize money remains intact, if they cut the wrong wire, or run out of time the bomb will explode strewing material across the studio and visibly shaking the set.
