Channel 5 gets Played, returns to Wentworth
UK terrestrial Channel 5 has acquired Canadian cop drama Played from producer-distributor Muse Distribution International.
The 13x60mins series premieres this month in Canada on CTV, with MDI’s parent Muse Entertainment producing along with Back Alley Film Productions (Bomb Girls). It follows a group of elite undercover cops who pose as drug dealers, assassins and gangsters to inflitrate criminal worlds.
Sebastian Cardwell, acquisitions manager at Channel 5, said: “[We] have always been a home for smart, sassy crime procedural drama. Played is no exception, and we;re sure it’ll be a favourite with our audience.”
Channel 5 has also acquired the second season of Wentworth, the FremantleMedia Australia remake of women’s prison drama Prisoner Cell Block H from vendor FremantleMedia International following strong ratings for the first.
