Disney Channel is bringing back iconic toon star Mickey Mouse in a series of short-form slapstick movies.
The 19-film series, Mickey Mouse, will begin rolling out across the Disney Channel, Disney.com and WATCH Disney Channel on June 28. In the first, Croissant de Triumph, Mickey has to deliver croissants to Minnie Mouse’s café but runs into traffic and other Parisian obastacles.
Mickey Mouse is produced in-house with Paul Rudish (Dexter’s Laboratory) executive producing and Disney Television Animation senior VPs Eric Coleman and Lisa Salamone supervising.
A preview film and an online game, Mickey Delivery Dash, went out on Disney.com yesterday.
“By bringing Mickey’s comedic adventures to life with vitality, humor, inventiveness and charm, the entire Disney Television Animation team of artists, animators and directors have worked to capture the essence of what Walt Disney himself created 85 years ago,” said Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide.
The announcement came during the unveiling of Disney’s 2013-14 programming slate to advertisers at New York’s Hudson Theatre. New shows include Liv & Maddie (WT), with new teen star Dove Cameron; feature length Disney Original Movies Teen Beach Movie and Cloud 9.
“We remain focused on delivering distinctively Disney quality programming to kids and families around world and are invigorated by the remarkable viewer response we’ve seen across all key demographics over the past year,” said Marsh.
