Concept: New season of hit comedy season about morally bankrupt used car salesman Richard ’Fitz’ Fitzpatrick (Jason Priestley)

With a prison break, car chases and the birth of the main character’s first child, the producers season of Call Me Fitz have cranked up the drama, comedy and action drama with the third season of Call Me Fitz.
The show follows the colourful life of an unscrupulous rogue of a car salesman, Richard ‘Fitz’ Fitzpatrick (Jason Priestley).
“The wonderful thing about Call Me Fitz is that it is so heavily serialised there is always another bit to add to his screwed up character and story,” says the show’s creator Sheri Elwood (Defying Gravity).
The new season sees Fitz moving into politics.
“He sees what it takes to get to the next level from selling cars and runs for public office,” explains Elwood. “He realises he can never get the local liquor laws bypassed unless he’s the one in charge, playing the cards. But he comes to realise that along with power, there is a price to be paid.”
Elwood, who directed some episodes of the third season, is now working on season four, which will include an origin story delving into the Fitzpatrick family’s history.
The series will air on Astral Media’s specialty channel The Movie Network in eastern Canada and its Corus-owned counterpart Movie Central in western Canada.
“I played the conscience of the US for nine years [as Brandon on Beverly Hills 90210]” but that was ten years ago,” Priestley who has directed two episodes of the series has told TBI. ”Fitz is such a great character and character studies like this don’t come along every day.”
The series is a three-way coproduction between Canada’s Amaze Film + Television, US and Canada-based eOne and Nova Scotia-based Big Motion Pictures.
Entertainment One is handling international sales and will launch the new season at MIPCOM.
