LinkedIn considers original programming
Business-focused social network LinkedIn is considering a move into original programming, according to a report by The Information.
The social network’s CEO Jeff Weiner (pictured) is reported to have said that shows such as Shark Tank (the equivalent of Dragons Den in the US) could be the kind of programming that works with its users, during a discussion at The Information’s Subscriber Summit in San Francisco.
Weiner reportedly said that the move would boost engagement and add subscriptions to its service.
If LinkedIn takes the plunge, it would be joining tech giants Apple, Facebook and Snapchat in the push for original content this year.
LinkedIn is a social media service aimed at business professionals, and primarily acts as a networking and information sharing platform.
