YouTube poaches MTV programming chief
MTV’s president of programming in the US, Susanne Daniels, is set to join YouTube to lead the video site’s original content efforts, according to stateside reports.
Daniels will become vice-president, YouTube Originals, managing the Google-owned site’s original content pipeline and oversee production. She will report to YouTube’s head of content and business operations, Robert Kyncl.
Daniels leaves MTV after almost three years at the youth broadcaster, where she has worked to oversee scripted and reality series, news and documentaries, production and talent.
Since joining the Viacom-owned channel from Lifetime in 2012 she has developed scripted series including Finding Carter, and Faking It, and reality series such as the revamped Real World franchise and matchmaking show You Are the One.
Prior to joining MTV, Daniels led the programming divisions at Lifetime Television and The WB Network and brought through a string of hit shows including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dawson’s Creek, Smallville, Gillmore Girls and Charmed.
