Paramount-owned BET Media Group is extending its multi-year content partnership with producer and filmmaker Tyler Perry through to 2028.

Under the new deal, BET has renewed eight original series produced by Perry’s production company, with the producer to deliver “hundreds” of episodes of both existing and new shows for the cablenet and its streamer, across both drama and comedies.

The original agreement had been due to expire this year, under which Perry has already produced more than 700 episodes of shows for BET and BET+.

The shows renewed under the deal, include BET’s Tyler Perry’s Sistas for season eight, Tyler Perry’s Assisted Living, Tyler Perry’s House Of Payne and Tyler Perry’s The Oval for season six.

Tyler Perry’s Ruthless and All The Queen’s Men have also been renewed for BET+, while a scripted series, Route 187, has also been greenlit.

“Tyler Perry is simply without rival as a creator of content that powerfully resonates with audiences across genres, formats, and platforms. Our programming partnership with Tyler – undoubtably the largest deal ever in the industry with a Black creator – has been hugely successful; delivering the number one series across all TV among Black audiences and five of the top 10 series on cable among Black viewers,” said Scott Mills, president & CEO of BET Media Group.

The BET deal comes just a couple of months after Perry extended his ongoing creative partnership with global streamer Netflix to include a multi-year first-look series agreement, expanding upon an existing first-look film pact.
