Paramount+ has ordered a fourth season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, alongside a fifth and final season for franchise stablemate Star Trek: Lower Decks.

Both shows are produced by CBS Studios, with sci-fi adventure series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds currently in production on its third season, which is set to debut in 2025. The live-action show is based on the years Captain Christopher Pike manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise. The series follows Pike, alongside science officer Spock, Number One and the crew, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.

Animated comedy series Star Trek: Lower Decks, meanwhile focuses on the support crew serving on one of Starfleet’s least important ships, the U.S.S. Cerritos. It is produced by CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, CBS Studios’ animation arm; Secret Hideout; and Roddenberry Entertainment.

Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds are integral to the Star Trek franchise, expanding the boundaries of the universe and exploring new and exciting worlds,” said David Stapf, president, CBS Studios. “We are extraordinarily proud of both series as they honor the legacy of what Gene Roddenberry created almost 60 years ago.”

Both shows are part of the Star Trek franchise that launched with the original series in 1966, and also includes Star Trek: Discovery, which is currently airing its fifth and final season on Paramount+.

Upcoming spin-offs headed to the streamer include the feature-length Star Trek: Section 31, which recently wrapped production and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which will head into production later this year.
