Mexico’s TV Azteca lands second format reboot in a week with ‘Family Feud’
TV Azteca in Mexico has unveiled its second format commission of the week with a local remake of Family Feud.
Production details and an air date have not yet been revealed for the remake of the Fremantle-distributed show, with the order unveiled during Content Americas in Miami.
Adrián Ortega, content director of TV Azteca, said the remake would offer “excitement and fun”, while Fremantle’s head of production in Lat Am, Coty Cagliolo, added that the deal “marks a new and transcendent chapter” for the format.
Earlier this week, TV Azteca licensed BBC Studios entertainment format The 1% Club, marking the show’s entry into the Lat Am market.
Family Feud features competing teams of five members. A host poses a question that has already been surveyed across 100 people and the first team to buzz in with an answer that matches one of the survey’s responses gains control of the game board. The first team to reach the highest number of points is the winner and goes on to play in the final for a cash prize.
Family Feud has aired in countries ranging from the UK and the US to Australia and Chile. It has seen an uptick in commissions over the past 18 months, with recent orders by Astro in Malaysia and Hong Kong’s TVB.
