2024 is set to be a pivotal year for the global content industry, so TBI has enlisted some of the biggest names in the business to share their thoughts on the major trends of the next 12 months and how they’re going to capitalise on them.

Here, Julian Bellamy, MD of ITV Studios, discusses the inevitability of US streaming consolidation and where his business is focused on expanding.

What is the biggest growth area for your company this year?

Most likely it is four areas; scripted; entertainment formats; our business with global streaming platforms; and the growth of FAST and AVOD.

What is the key trend going to be in 2024?

A fresh round of consolidation, mergers and acquisitions.

What is your New Year’s resolution and why?

In a world of reboots, reheats and spin-offs, to keep the faith that genuinely new and original ideas can still win the day.

What will be the biggest headline (not involving your own company) in 2024 and why?

More consolidation among US streamers… it feels inevitable

What show are you most looking forward to in 2024?

I’m looking forward to Franklin on Apple TV+; new launches and second series commissions of My Mum, Your Dad and Rivals for Disney+.
