ITV Studios (ITVS)-backed Italian producer Cattleya is launching a new outfit in partnership with writers Leonardo Fasoli and Maddalena Ravagli.

Dedalus will develop and produce films and TV series, with two projects in the works including TV series Erba. The show is based on a series of high-profile murders in Italy in 2006 and will explore the context behind the killings and their aftermath.

Feature film Everything We Ever Wanted is also on the slate of the nascent firm, with the film exploring love and friendship amidst a mid-1970’s Neapolitan mob. Francesca Comencini directs.

Fasoli and Ravagli have had a prolific relationship with Cattleya over the past decade, working together on well-travelled Gomorrah, which has was sold into more than 70 countries.

The prodco, which ITVS has owned since 2017, is also behind Sky and Canal+ drama ZeroZeroZero, The Immortal and Django for Sky.

Riccardo Tozzi, founder of Gomorrah and ZeroZeroZero firm Cattleya, said: “Over the years we have formed a special bond with Leonardo and Maddalena, based on a unique way of working together which actively involves them at every stage of our shared projects.

“That’s why starting a new company together is the natural continuation of this journey that has resulted in the creation of new and original ways to tell stories.”

Fasoli and Ravagli added: “Our long-time collaboration with Cattleya and the great adventures we have shared have allowed us to be thoroughly involved in our projects, starting with the writing process and continuing throughout shooting.

“This has quite organically led to a new vehicle for our shared storytelling and through which we aim to set off in new directions, with the same fun and passion that have distinguished all that we have done together.”

Lisa Perrin, MD of international production at ITVS, said: “We are incredibly proud to be associated with the game-changing work that has resulted from Cattleya’s partnership with Leonardo and Maddalena to date. This next step in their journey already has us on the edge of our seats about what more could be possible.”
