Warner Bros. Discovery alum to lead Moonbug’s APAC distribution & brand partnerships, Kelly Cooke exits

Cocomelon

CoComelon owner Moonbug Entertainment has appointed former Warner Bros. Discovery exec Yasmin Zahid as head of distribution and brand partnerships for APAC.

Zahid will be responsible for leading strategy on Moonbug’s long-term growth in the region with an aim to build out global franchises, reporting into Nicolas Eglau, MD of EMEA & APAC.

She takes over the role on 17 July from Kelly Cooke, whose next move is not yet known.

Zahid will be responsible for extending Moonbug’s channel and content syndication presence in APAC by expanding its partnerships. She will also create originals with key platforms and broadcasters in the region, which recently saw the launch of Moonbug’s linear channel in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Previously, Zahid served as the EVP and head of affiliate and B2B distribution at WarnerMedia (now Warner Bros. Discovery), overseeing the launch of HBO Go in markets across Asia during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“With her impressive track record and industry knowledge, I have no doubt she will be an invaluable addition to our company, leading Moonbug’s future growth and expansion in the APAC region,” said Eglau.

Moonbug was acquired by Kevin Mayer’s Candle Media in 2021 for $3bn.
