‘Life In Colour’ prodco SeaLight lands Flame Media exec for int’l pre-sales
Life in Colour With David Attenborough prodco SeaLight Pictures has expanded its senior ranks with the addition of a Flame Media Group exec to assist with international pre-sales and a senior producer.
Alasdair Dolan takes the newly created position of head of business development & strategic partnerships, with a remit to build industry partnerships with a focus on content development, whilst supporting the team with emerging trends.
He had most recently spent more than six years as head of business development at Flame, managing its co-production alliance scheme and the company’s stock footage library.
He also worked closely with the distribution team to create new concepts, programme ideas, written treatments and finance plans for Flame, which was acquired by Abacus Media Rights this summer.
Australia-based Flame was picked up for $2.4m by Abacus parent Amcomri Entertainment in July, 15 months since the death of Flame Media founder & CEO John Caldon.
SeaLight has also hired factual producer Sarah Beard as series producer. Beard is currently working on Secrets Of The Octopus for Nat Geo/Disney+, which is being produced by SeaLight and executive produced by James Cameron.
She was previously CEO of Take 3 For The Sea, a marine plastic pollution advocacy group, and prior to that worked on docs such as Sea Lions: Life By A Whisker, feature doc BLUE, and Great Barrier Reef: The Next Generation for the ABC in Australia.
Colette Beaudry, MD & co-founder of SeaLight, said: “We are increasingly working with networks early on in the production cycle; having Alasdair on board to assist with international partners and pre-sales will enable us to extend our reach even further. And with another talented producer like Sarah joining our team, we look forward to creating more compelling blue-chip programmes for a global audience.”
