ABC in Oz, NRK & VRT among those to ‘Evolve’ with Abacus docuseries

Patrick Aryee

The ABC in Australia, NRK in Norway and VRT in Belgium are among a slew of companies to have picked up Patrick Aryee’s wildlife and tech docuseries Evolve.

The 6 x 60-minute show, sold by Abacus Media Rights (AMR), was produced by Beach House Pictures for streamer Curiosity in association with Blue Ant Media.

Deals have also been secured with Viasat World in Nordic and Central & Eastern Europe, Italian pubcaster Rai, Studio Hamburg in Germany and UR in Sweden.

Further sales are in the works here at MIPTV, where wildlife filmmaker, podcaster and author Aryee will present the keynote address at MIPDoc followed by a Q&A with TBI editor Richard Middleton.

The show was produced throughout 2021 and saw multi-national crews travelling across four continents, with stories filmed in Namibia, Jordan, the UK and 10 states across the US.

The series dives into the fast-emerging world of biomimicry and explores whether the unique adaptations of the animal world can help us to find futuristic solutions to some of mankind’s biggest problems.

Donovan Chan, executive producer at Beach House, added: “Only a true team effort could have produced such an inspiring and entertaining show, in the thick of the pandemic no less. We are extremely grateful and proud of our partners, from Patrick Aryee to Curiosity and of course Abacus Media Rights, who have been smashing their targets to help us achieve our vision of bringing our stories to the world.”
