Endemol Shine UK’s factual chief Kim Shillinglaw to step down
Endemol Shine Group’s UK-focused factual chief Kim Shillinglaw is stepping down.
Former BBC Two and Four boss Shillinglaw was appointed director of factual at Endemol Shine UK in 2016, overseeing the management of prodcos including Dragonfly, Dragonfly West, DSP and Tigress.
During her time with the group, producers under Shillinglaw’s remit were behind shows including Channel 4 series One Born Every Minute, from Dragonfly, as well as Elba Vs Block, which is from Workerbee and is being produced for Quibi.
Her exit follows that of ESG format chief Lisa Perrin, who joined ITV Studios earlier this week. Other departures since Banijay Group confirmed its acquisition of the production and distribution giant in 2019, include Cathy Payne, who said she was leaving her role as chief of sales outfit Endemol Shine International last year, as revealed by TBI.
Shillinglaw, whose exit was first reported by UK trade Broadcast, joined ESG after leaving the BBC amid a restructure at the UK pubcaster. She had reported into Endemol Shine UK CEO Richard Johnston.
In a note to staff, he said: “She leaves these businesses in excellent shape and in excellent hands, and while incredibly sad to see her go, I understand her desire to move onto her next challenge.”
Shillinglaw added: “Coming here from the BBC I didn’t know my EBITDA from my elbow, so it’s been great to discover that we can deliver such terrific growth and renewed profitability simply by supporting talented people, strengthening creative development and finding more straightforward ways to run the businesses.
“It’s been three really enjoyable years of leading full-on change and I know that all the very different labels at Endemol Shine are just going to keep powering from strength to strength.”
