Netflix brings in apocalypse dramedy Daybreak

Netflix is set for a new apocalypse dramedy, Daybreak, based on the graphic novel by Brian Ralph.

The dark comedy finds 17-year old high school outcast Josh searching for his missing girlfriend Sam in post-apocalyptic Glendale, California.

Joined by a ragtag group of misfits including a pyromaniac 12-year-old Angelica and Josh’s former high school bully Wesley, now turned pacifist Samurai, the lead tries to stay alive among a horde of Mad Max-style gangs.

The ten-episode series has Aron Eli Coleite (Star Trek: Discovery) as co-creator, showrunner and exec producer and Brad Peyton (Frontier) as co-creator, director and exec producer. Jeff Fierson will also serve as exec producer via ASAP Entertainment.
