Fox axes Brooklyn Nine-Nine as Hulu eyes its revival
Fox has cancelled three popular comedies including Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which Hulu and other US players are eyeing for revival.
Other titles axed in the move include popular sitcom The Last Man on Earth and The Mick, which is ending its reign after two seasons.
There has been public outcry over Fox’s decision to cancel Brooklyn Nine-Nine in particular. Thousands of tweets were sent to popular stars such as January Jones and Terry Crews.
The show’s writer Dan Goor said the following on Twitter:
Wow. Thank you all for this incredible outpouring of support. #brooklyn99 fans are the best fans in the world. It means the world to me and everyone else who works on the show.

US reports are claiming that a range of broadcasters and networks have become interested in picking up the title after public interest in its cancellation, including Deadline which first reported the story.
Hulu is seen as number one contender to pick up the title. The streamer has a history of making such a move after it picked up The Mindy Project once Fox cancelled it in 2015. The show went on to be a ratings success.
Other reported contenders for Brooklyn Nine-Nine include TBS, Netflix and NBC.
