Apple builds worldwide content team with True Jack hire
Apple has hired Michelle Lee, who served as head of development for Jason Katim’s True Jack productions, as a senior creative executive for its worldwide video unit.
Lee will report to Apple head of development Matt Cherniss and take up the role in January 2018.
In her new role the programming exec will oversee the dramady starring and produced by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon and commissioned by the company earlier this year.
At Universal Television’s True Jack, Lee has worked as producer for shows such as NBC’s Rise and About a Boy and Hulu’s The Path.
The move marks Apple’s latest push in building a programming team. It has already hired former Sony bosses Jamie Erlicht and Zack Van Amburg to oversee video programming and former Channel 4 exec Jay Hunt for a European role.
A variety of other execs, including former WGN America chief Cherniss and Sony’s Kim Rozenfeld have since joined, and Apple’s first original series have been commissioned.
