TBI Weekly: What happens to The Weinstein Company?
This week was undoubtedly dominated by news that Harvey Weinstein has been fired from the company he co-founded, The Weinstein Company (TWC), after multiple allegations of sexual assault.
The move to fire Weinstein was supported by all directors of TWC including Weinstein’s brother Robert Weinstein, Lance Maerov, Richard Koenigsberg and Tarak Ben Ammar.
However, the future of the company remains uncertain after the shocking incidents reported in regards to Weinstein. The Wrap claims that TWC may be preparing to change its name to disassociate from the exec.
More recently, Deadline has also suggested that following a week of multiple cases against Weinstein, some agencies have decided to cut off talent supply even after Weinstein’s departure.
The future of the business hangs in the balance as stories continue to surface.
While Weinstein is best known for movie hits such as Shakespeare in Love and Pulp Fiction, Weinstein has also dabbled in TV, producing War & Peace and Marco Polo.
