Netflix kills off Gypsy drama

Scripted-logo-460_2GypsySubscription VOD service Netflix has cancelled its therapy-themed drama Gypsy after one season.

The move highlights Netflix’s increasingly tough approach to its original programmes, and comes after high profile series The Get Down and Sense8.

As the service does not release viewing figures, it is unclear exactly why Gypsy has been axed.

Gypsy is a ten-part drama from Lisa Rubin about an inappropriate therapist (Jean Holloway), who forms dangerous relationships with people in her patients’ lives.

Universal Television and Working Title Television coproduced the show, which debuted earlier this year.
