NDF brings in ex-UFA chief
Former UFA Serial Drama chief Rainer Wemcken has joined another German production company, Neue Deutche Filmgesellchaft.
Wemcken exited FremantleMedia-owned UFA Serial Drama (fka Grundy TV) after two decades last year in a management restructure, and has now become a producer at NDF.
The hire is another coup for NDF, which last year brought on Beta Films managing director Eric Welbers as its co-CEO. It is also recently launched a joint venture with Italian producer Alessandro Passadore called Viola Film.
Welbers said Wemcken “fits into the team, both personally and professionally, and we look forward to working together”.
While at UFA, Wemcken produced series such as soap Verbotene Liebe and Verliebt in Berlin, a remake of telenovela Ugly Betty.
NDF is currently producing series such as ARD and NDR crime thriller Morden im Norden, family entertainment series For Heaven’s Sake and crime comedy Alles Klara.
