ITV shops Meet the Parents format
Finnish broadcaster MTV has ordered a local version of ITV Studios’ Meet the Parents format.
The show originally went out on ITV in the UK and the broadcaster’s content arm, ITV Studios, launched it at MIPCOM.
MTV has now greenlit a local version for its Sub channel. ITV Studios Finland will produce the 10-episode series, which will launch later this year.
The dating format has parents answer questions from a prospective date about their offspring, and the picker selects their date based on the information gleaned from their mother and father.
“We are delighted to be bringing this family friendly show to Finland and are looking forward to seeing how our contestants cope with being placed in awkward situations by their mums and dads, in the hope that it might lead to love,” said Pete Paavolainen, CEO of ITV Studios Finland, said:”
ITV Studios has already got a local version of Meet the Parents away in Germany, with ITV Studios Germany making the series for free-to-air net RTL.
Mike Beale, executive VP of Global Development & Formats for ITV Studios, said: “There was a real buzz about [Meet the Parents] when we launched it at MIPCOM last October, and we are now seeing the fruits of some of the discussions around it, as more territories are taking a greater interest.”
