Epix poaches BBCWW exec for content sales
US premium network Epix has poached a high-ranking BBC Worldwide America distribution executive.
Sandy Ashendorf (pictured) has been named executive VP, content distribution at the channel, heading network distribution partnerships on all platforms.
She was previously EVP, distribution, at the commercially-focused US arm of UK pubcaster the BBC. Before that, she had spent 17 years with Epix co-parent Viacom, rising to EVP of affiliate sales and marketing for MTV Networks (now Viacom Media Networks).
Ashendorf is joining an entertainment network that earlier this month secured a deal to bring Meg Ryan back to television for the first time in three decades through new drama Picture Paris.
“As we expand our executive team and build our network operating infrastructure, Sandy will add a valuable new dimension and will be a key resource in expanding and strengthening our partnerships and driving new growth,” said Epix president and CEO Mark Greenberg.
Viacom operates the joint venture network with its Paramount Pictures film arm, plus Lionsgate and MGM.
Epix debuted in 2009, and is now in more than 50 million US homes.
