Red Arrow, MTG team for thriller series
Red Arrow International and the Modern Times Group have joined forces to make Embassy Down, a new 8x1hr thriller series out of Denmark.
The series will be the latest original for MTG’s Viaplay streaming service, which will launch the series in 2018. Red Arrow International will launch it internationally.
Danish screenwriter Anders Frithiof August (The Legacy) will pen the series. It will be set in the Copenhagen and follow events after the local US embassy is attacked by terrorists, and hostages taken. The show will move from inside and outside the ensuing siege.
Nordisk Film is making the series with Henrik Bastin (Bosch) and Mikkel Bondesen (The Killing) among the exec producers.
Henrik Pabst, managing director of Red Arrow International, said: “Embassy Down is one of the most exciting projects I have been pitched in a long time, and something I knew we had to be an integral part of. I am delighted that MTG is joining us on this exciting journey, as we take the series out to the world.”
Jakob Mejlhede, MTG executive VP and head of programming and content development, said: “This major new series deals unflinchingly with some of the most sensitive issues of our time.
It is non-stop action and drama, with each episode raising big questions about human relationships and conflicted agendas. Embassy Down is a local drama with global relevance and we are proud to be a partner in this project.”
Viaplay has been moving into original drama, ordering shows including Keanu Reeves’ Swedish Dicks and porn industry drama Veni Vidi Vici.
