Dan Korn joins A+E
Dan Korn has taken a new role at A+E and will oversee programming at its UK channels.
The veteran exec will join the UK arm of the US-based channel operator at the end of October. He joins from the production arm of Scottish broadcaster STV, but is best known for his time at Discovery where, in a ten-year career, he was variously head of special projects and head of programming at Discovery Networks International UK and Western Europe.
In the new role at A+E he will oversee acquisitions, commissions and scheduling at the UK History, Lifetime and Crime + Investigation pay nets, and free-to-air service Blaze.
This means Hiatory and H2 chief Rachel Job, and Crime + Investigation and Lifetime boss Koulla Anastasi will now report into him.
Korn’s will report to Heather Jones, UK general manager and senior VP of content and creative. “Dan is a hugely experienced and highly respected programmer,” she said. “He has a fantastic understanding of content, commissioning and brands and will be a brilliant addition to the content and creative team.”
The new recruit said: “I’m truly delighted to be joining the terrific team at A+E UK. They have made some bold and exciting moves in the broadcast market and I very much look forward to continuing to deliver a line-up of strong and unique programming.”
Korn’s appointment follows the recent hire of new creative VP Kenny Reynolds, who also reports into Heather Jones.
A+E Networks UK is the unit that oversees channels in the UK, Nordics, CEE and Benelux regions. It is run as a joint venture between A+E and Sky.
