Sony appoints Asia content head
Sony Pictures Television has upped Virginia Lim to head of content at its Asian business.
Lim has been at Sony in various roles since 2008, joining the studio from Singaporean pay TV platform StarHub.
In her new role at SPT she will oversee content for SPT’s five-strong bouquet of regional channels – AXN, One, Animax, Sony Channel, and Gem – covering programming, marketing and acquisitions.
Sony said Lim had landed the senior VP and head of content production and marketing role at the business in recognition for her achievements since taking over the consolidated English and Asian channels last April.
That move came after former Asian English-language channels chief Yan Jong Wong exited the business.
Since then Lim has overseen a brand refresh for the AXN net and overseen the production of a local version of the Cash Cab format for the channel.
On her watch there has also been a refresh of the programming grid at the One channel and the introduction of a new primetime strand called Ppalli Ppalli (Quick Qiock).
Working out of SPT’s regional Singapore base, Lim will report to Ang Hui Keng, senior VP and general manager for SPT Networks, Asia.
