New Oz movies streaming service nears debut
A new streaming service that aims to offer every Australian-produced feature film ever made is nearing its debut.
Ozflix is currently searching for “anyone who has the rights” for Aussie-produced movies in order to license their products, according to a statement released through Facebook.
The transactional VOD / pay-per-view service will offer rights owners a 50-50 rental revenue split when it goes live, likely mid-way through this year. The service’s owners said they would “like to maximise the number of films it has available for launch”.
“If you have made a film, or even if your great-aunt made a film and has bequeathed the rights to you, please get in touch with us so we can stream your film,” according to the statement.
Ozflix has a sister organization, the Australian Film Future Foundation. This will grant money to eligible filmmakers who cannot digitise their movies.
Producer Ron Brown and local industry veteran Alan Finney co-founded Ozflix last year.
