Welcome to Sweden producer joins TV4

Jarowskij’s Johanna Bergenstråhle is joining Swedish broadcaster TV4 as its new executive producer for drama and comedy.

Bergenstråhle (pictured) is best known as producer of TV’s culture-clash comedy Welcome to Sweden, which was a coproduction with US broadcaster NBC and Entertainment One Television.

Her appointment comes as TV4 looks to bolster its high-end drama credentials, with several major commissions set to be announced early next year.

Bergenstråhle will work on projects for both free-to-air broadcaster TV4 and sister content group C More Entertainment, which has this year been prepping a new SVOD service with Svensk Filmindustri and Finland’s MTV.

She has worked on numerous TV series and films, and worked at film firm SF as a producer.

“Feature films are going through a tough time at the moment, while TV drama is flourishing and competition is getting tougher,” said TV4’s drama director, Josefine Tengblad.

“This means that there is still more stringent requirements on producers and on us as a channel. Therefore, Johanna Bergenstråhle’s unique experience as a producer and an assistant production manager at SF is invaluable.”

Bergenstråhle begins her new role on January 11.
