BBC Worldwide buys into presenter’s indie
BBC Worldwide has bought into Amazing Productions, the UK indie run by architect and TV presenter George Clarke.
The commercial arm of the UK pubcaster will take a 25% stake in the London-based producer.
Amazing is led by Clarke who fronts popular series The Restoration Man and George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces for Channel 4.
Clarke said: “The partnership will allow us to create, deliver and distribute some of the very best media content adding to the great commissions we already have under our belt.”
The UK free-to-air net has also ordered a new four-parter, Ugly House, from Amazing. Its other commissions include two for the BBC’s Panorama current affairs strand.
Mark Reynolds, BBC Worldwide’s genre director for factual, said: “George and the team at Amazing are the perfect partners for BBC Worldwide as their slate delivers exactly what we’re looking for right now – that is non-scripted aspirational lifestyle content, male-skewing fact-ent, access driven documentaries, and high-end accessible specialist factual.”
BBCWW has this year taken 25% stakes in the new unscripted arm of Red Planet Pictures, Curve Media and Mighty Productions.
