Raw drama exec joins Wiffen’s prodco
Miriam Brent is joining former FremantleMedia drama chief Donna Wiffen’s prodco, Duchess Street Productions.
Brent is leaving her post as development editor at Raw TV to become script executive at Duchess Street.
She officially begins today and will work alongside development producer Jo Roderick at the Bob & Co.-backed firm, which ex-Fremantle head of worldwide drama Wiffen launched in June last year. Duchess Street hired Roderick from Sky 12 months ago.
Brent will aid development of Duchess Street’s high-end, original drama slate, and provide editorial guidance and support on existing projects including the TV adaptation of Jeffrey Archer’s Clifton Chronicles novels.
At Discovery Communications-owned Raw, Brent launched a drama unit after joining in 2012. The firm has gone on to develop shows such as Discovery’s new scripted miniseries on the foundations of the Harley-Davidson motorbike company and a feature film from Bart Layton, American Animals.
Brent has also worked at companies including Working Title TV, Origin Pictures and Pathé.
Wiffen said Brent’s “experience of originating fresh ideas and ability of finding new emerging talent” would make her a “great addition” to the London-based Duchess Street prodco, which is one of a number media financing group Bob & Co. is backing.
