Male-skewed net launches in Spain
Spanish broadcaster Atresmedia has launched its planned new male-focused free-to-air channel Mega, using the frequency previously occupied by football channel GolT.
Content on the channel includes iconic 80s science series Cosmos, fronted by Carl Sagan, Bonnie and Clyde and Justified (pictured), as well as some sport content including Champions League football highlights.
Mediapro-owned GolT will now be available on pay TV platforms and on the internet.
Mediapro plans to bring a Spanish version of Al Jazeera’s beIN Sport to Spain in August.
The company is currently negotiating to secure carriage for the channel, which will provide coverage of Champions League and Europa League football as well as other international leagues, with pay TV operators.
