Disney’s Maker Studios appoints intn’l content chief
Online content and channels specialist Maker Studios has recruited writer and director Luke Hyams to head up international content.
Hyams production credits include Channel 4 and E4 youth-skewed series Dubplate Drama and Glue. He has also made feature film X Moor and YouTube commissioned digital series Bitchcraft.
At Disney-owned Maker, Hyams will develop new formats for global distribution, and drive the development of original programming with commercial partners.
He will be based in London and report to head of international René Rechtman.
“Luke’s track record of developing and crafting original and engaging stories makes him a dream hire for our creative ambitions,” said Rechtman.
“Luke’s experience will be invaluable in helping brand partners develop original programming; from dramas, short-films, scripted comedy, live shows, and more.”
Hyams added: “Maker is the indisputable home of the most exciting emerging talent in entertainment, and I am thrilled to collaborate with new voices on original programming that inspires and redefines viewing habits.”
