Scandi nets pre-buy ITVS-sold Swedish drama
ITV Studios Global Entertainment has sold upcoming Swedish mystery thriller Jordskott – the Tales of Silverhöjd (WT) to an Icelandic channel.
RUV in Iceland has acquired the 10-part show, which will ITVSGE will launch to the international market at MIPCOM, while YLE in Finland and TV2 in Norway has also bought it – but did their deals direct with producer Palladium Films.
ITVSGE picked up rightsto the Palladium Films series, which was created for SVT and coproduced with Finland’s Kinoproduktion earlier this year.
Jordskott follows a female detective who returns to her small home town near the Swedish forests to work the case of a missing boy ten years after her own daughter disappeared.
The series is the first from commercials company Palladium’s new TV production division Palladium Fiction, which Filip Hammarström heads up.
Palladium’s co-founder Henrik Björn is writer and director. Alexander Kantsjö, Fredrik T. Olsson and Dennis Magnusson are co-writers.
“With Jordskott, we’re taking Scandinavian crime to another level, adding mystery to the whodunit central plot,” said Hammarström. “The successful series Top of the Lake and True Detective have similar moods and feel and I believe we will hit a sweet spot where Scandi crime is hitting new ground.”
The series is set to launch in early 2015.
