News brief: KiKa buys Irish toon

German children’s channel KiKa has acquired Irish animated preschool series ­Joe & Jack from Canada’s 9 Story Entertainment.

The 39x7mins series will beginning broadcasting on the public channel on May 12. Czech channel Česká Televise has also recently picked up rights.

Produced by Ireland’s Dancing Girl Productions, Joe & Jack has aired on Irish pubcaster RTE since 2012 and joined the 9 Story catalogue upon the Canadian company’s acquisition of the CCI Kids & Family content library last year.
